Shrink your "BUT"

Have you ever chosen to begin a fruitful journey and your "BUT" got in the way? I mean like something as simple as starting diet to lose your "butt" and your "BUT" got in the way?  It is so easy to gain weight - heck, I used to believe that walking past the dessert display case me calories just "jump on me".  :-)  No seriously, as you get older, it is just more difficult to focus on the idea of losing weight.  In January we make New Year Resolutions with great intentions in mind "BUT" sometimes lose interest by February!!  (been there - done that!!).  How about the serving sizes we have become adjusted to.  PHEW, some places serve you enough for yourself and several other people.  As you engage in conversation and enjoying the company you are with - it is EASY to nibble that "super-sized" meal and not even notice it.  It is perfectly OKAY to consume with you have a PLAN.  Having an active puppy has helped me be reminded of the need to walk "BUT" the weight loss struggle is real.

People who have been avid smokers tell me the issues they face in ceasing the desire to smoke.  People who are alcoholics and use drugs state the same ... that "BUT" seems to get in the way.

That "BUT" may definitely be a factor but we are humans and have a freedom of choice.  Have I failed at my own aspirations, of course!  That "BUT" arises out of no where and if I don't focus, the goals I have set for my own self would dissolve.  Am I perfect - HECK, NO - "BUT" the desire to shrink my excuses are evident and I try to put myself in check - it is a daily task.  When I fall of track - I address my pitfall and get back on track.  It is self-talk, it is self-control and it is a matter of CHOICE.  To break unhealthy patterns, you gotta recognize your "BUT".

Professional relationships, church relationships, personal relationships require a look at our "BUT".

I would leave him/her "BUT".....
I would chose a different church that feeds my soul "BUT"....
I would go back to school "BUT"....
I would take better care of myself "BUT"...
I would go BACK to the gym "BUT"...
I would go on vacation "BUT"...
I would be a better mother to my children "BUT"...

EVERYONE has a "BUT".

Decipher what your "BUT" is and make it a "bullet list" - attack them one at a time.  Celebrate small victories.  For instance, if you wanna lose 100 pounds (and I did....) - start by celebrating your first 10 pounds (not by eating an entire cheesecake! :-))  - point is give your credit for each step you take towards accomplishing your personal goals.  Make your goals attainable and then reach for them and GET THEM.

Shrink your "BUT" and conquer your life.

I am getting off of my "BUTT" and working on my "BUT" even as we speak!!

Let's enjoy the journey!
